THE CONVEYANCE OF TRUTH ON SCREEN
with Taylor Zajdlik
Service Description
A critical lecture and discussion regarding the conveyance of truth on screen. Through a brief history of different forms of documentary, film clips and discussion-based questions, I will encourage the attendees to deconstruct the different tools that cinema has used to depict a sense of truth over time. I am hoping to lend a critical lens to this type of filmmaking, and lead into a discussion of contemporary documentary ethics and the responsibility of the filmmaker to its subject. ABOUT TAYLOR I am a filmmaker, film studies graduate and teaching assistant working in the Niagara area. Through my time working in these fields I have seen the practical hurdles of trying to represent a subject honestly on film and I believe it is an integral lesson for young creatives to learn and consider when making their own films. I have a list of film examples that I can submit upon request. Thanks for your consideration.
